Delete breakpoints from debug window

Status: Declined

The described behavior is a bug, but I need a reproducible case to file it.

Hi all,
when I use breakpoints for debugging, I found that the breakpoints sometimes automatical re-appear after they are deleted from the breakpoint manager. I did some tests and found that they only appear again, when there is no other change in that VI, so the VI is not marked with the * in the title, which indicates unsaved changes. They will also not reappear when the VI is saved manually after the breakpoint is deleted.
So the suggestion is that a VI should also be marked as unsaved after deleting a breakpoint.

Regards, Patrick

What version of LabVIEW are you using? I cannot reproduce the behavior you describe in LabVIEW 2025 Q3. When I remove a breakpoint in the Debug window, the VI is marked as unsaved.

If you can provide steps to reproduce the behavior (including a VI), I'll file a Bug. But I'm closing this Idea because the intent is for LabVIEW to mark VIs as as unsaved after deleting a breakpoint, and that's the behavior that I'm seeing.

Hi Christina,

During writing this post I found the exact way to reproduce it independent from my original project:

The VI will only not be marked as unsaved in case the breakpoint is disabled. Somehow I'm not alowed to uplad a VI or zip file.

So the steps to reproduce it:

  1. Create a VI and set a breakpoint somewhere.
  2. Disable the breakpoint.
  3. Save the VI.
  4. Remove the breakpoint with context menu or in Debug window.
  5. The VI will notmarked as unsaved now.
