Dynamic Event Terminals could appear automatically

Status: New

Hi,

I just thought of a small thing when I enabled the Dynamic Event Terminals on an event structure for the zillionth time - why don't they just appear automatically when I wire a compatible wire to the structure border? Like this:

DynTermPopup_2.png

Of course once in a while you don't want to wire to the Dynamic Event Terminal, but instead want that wire to tunnel through the structure border, but a dab on the CTRL or ESC key could make the Dynamic Event Terminal "suggestion" disappear.

Cheers,

Steen

In the meantime a little trick:

The Event structure inside the Dialog & UI -> Events subpalette drops with that terminal visible.

Is there a good reason for it to not be visible at all times, or at least by default?  Is it really more visually cluttered to have an unwired terminal there?

Yes, I know the event structure is in the palettes both with and without that terminal enabled by default. For my taste the Dynamic Event Terminals could easily always be visible by default, but then it should be simpler to disable it - for instance just by highlighting it and hitting DELETE. I'm sick of all the right-clicking necessary to configure the nodes and structures. Many structures have several different nodes that can be made visible/hidden, so I don't think we should remove the ability to hide such a terminal. The general result would be a lot of unnecessary clutter.

I like this idea; I'm trying to think if there's any time you wouldn't want this, but I can't think of any offhand. I'm assuming this would also work for clusters of refnums too, since those can be wired up to dynamic event terminals.

@for(imstuck): Exactly, that's why I wrote "a compatible wire". Btw. you forgot to kudo the idea then Smiley Wink.
