That's one for the non-exisiting Vision Development Module Idea Exchange forum, so I expect its audience to be pretty limited.
However, considering that the list price of the VDM is $3,700 and development licenses are $420 a pop, you would expect a minimum of responsivity from NI regarding one of the many basic GUI issues with that module (search for Andrey Dmitriev's posts for a sample)...
Nonetheless, I found this thread reporting a problem that I found again today (LV 2012) six years after the fact and a promise by NI that "This is now a recognized issue, and the development team will be working to correct it" (May 2006).
The problem at hand is that the default runtime menu for an Image Display indicator has the following items:
- Copy Data
- Description and Tip...
- Palette (submenu)
- Save Image...
- Clear ROI
- Zoom to Fit
AND that when choosing to edit that runtime menu, the default list shows:
- Copy Data
- Description and Tip...
where are the other ones gone?
Anyway, ignoring this and using the default menu, you would expect to be able to grab those items in the Event Structure... No such luck! The only two (app) events that are detected are the two listed above, but nothing happens when choosing any of the other 4+ I have listed at the beginning.
As a matter of fact, the only application menu items available when customizing the runtime menu are those two.
So basically, one has to rewrite a runtime menu with dummy "Clear ROI", "Palette...", etc and programmatically implement equivalent actions. Not necessarily impossible, but not programmer-friendly.
Let's check in 6 years from now?
