Hardware Key for development systems

I would like to see and option to use our development system that is enabled by a hardware key. That way, you can put it on any machine you want for development without worrying about licensing. A lot of LabVIEW applications are one of a kind systems, complex systems. The programmer does not always have time to add a lot of code for all the errors you can encounter. With the debugging tools in the development system, debugging would be much easier than trying to debug a built application. This would enable the owner of the software to load his system on a target machine and when he is done developing the application, he can build it as normal. It would be desirable to also be able to use you key for connecting to a remote site, using remote desktop, pachyderm, etc. This would greatly help for field support of application. It would also make it easier to support previous versions of LabVIEW, as the project and software would be on the target machine. Changes that could take days could now be done in minutes.

I'm going to avoid discussing the issue of whether or not you need the IDE to debug an application and just suggest that there are options available today.

First, you can simply install LV on the target machine and use the license manager to activate and deactivate it as needed. The EULA allows you to use a single copy on multiple PCs, partly for scenarios like this.
Second, I believe NI has a special debug license which is also meant for this scenario. I never used it, so I can't give any more details.

Yes, there are other ways. On the license manager, I do not see an option to deactivate. We all jump through hoops to try to debug built applications whereas if the development system was on the machine, you could debug it in minutes sometimes. Would especially be useful for previous versions at remote site, updating real-time systems through max, debugging special hardware unique to a certain machine, etc. Would allow the users to focus on programming more and maintenance less. Anyway, just throwing it out there. Thanks for the response.

There is a special debug license.

You could run the debug option from the IDE to an executable  on the remote system.

Besides that the LabVIEW license allow you to install the program on 3 computers. NI does not strictly check the number of installed seats.
