Index array with index valid indicator

I imagine the index array function already has to do a range check. The compile code probably looks a little more like this:

equavalent index check2.png

Since it's already doing the check, it might be nice to optionally return the result of that check so we can be sure our data is not defaulted. Maybe the icon could look like this:

Jeff: What is "the maximum right-hand side node density"?

>Which dimention is out of range for each output?

This would not answer that question. If you want that kind of detailed output, you'd need to write a custom routine, just as you do today. This idea has no impact on that scenario whatsoever.

@ AQ:The point being, its easy enough already to cross wires on the output of index array when there are several elements.  Doubling the number of outputs with an "OK" for each index output makes a miss-wire a lot more likely.  For that reason, I'd much prefer to use something like the snippet than the proposed "Index array with index valid indicator."  Especially for Bool arrays.  Or, bluntly, even if this feature existed I would avoid using it.

Ah. You meant the terminal density. Now I understand your thinking. Not something that would bother me -- I train myself by practicing attempting to wire the desired terminal from the Quotient & Remainder node. If I can get that one right (and I've gotten better at getting it on the first try), everything else is cake! 🙂
