Make text in the Blocks larger

Status: Declined

I have quite a difficult time using LabView because the Blocks and the Text in the blocks are so small that I cannot always dechiper the text.  It is my understanding that many Users have the same complaint.   If it is not possible to allow a resize of the text in the blocks how about just making the default text size a little bit larger.  Say if we were at a 9 point Font make the default 11.

With so many Users complaing about this, I would think the LabView developers should have addressed this by now.

What is your screen resolution?  What is your screen size?

The problem in recent years is that although screens keep getting larger, the resolution is getting larger even faster.  It makes much better looking images when you are watching movies or looking at pictures giving you clear sharp pictures, but the pixels keep getting tinier making things like lines and text even smaller.  There is no easy way to scale all of this in a way that would make it conveniently big enough for you without causing problems for all the other PC's out there.

You may want to get either a bigger monitor, or set your screen resolution to lower numbers.

What are "Blocks"? LabVIEW is not lego.

What "text" are you talking about?

If you are talking about subVI icons, we only have 32x32 pixels, so a larger font would mean significantly fewer words. The icon only gives a hint on functionality, so to get more detailed help keep the context help open (ctrl+h) or even look at the full help.

The font size of labels and other UI elements, etc. can be changed in the options.

Make the Icons large say 48x48 or better yet user scalable such that the text in the Icons can be larger and it can be easier to see the connections points.  What is magical about 32x32?  I have difficutly with eye strain with the small sized icons.  It should be a user preference.

I may be using the wrong terminology.  I am referring to the Blocks on a Block Diagram and the associated text in those Blocks.

LabVIEW is a graphical language, and icons can be made graphical instead of text. The icon editor contains a large collection of nice and intuitive glyphs to use. As I said, the context help should contain all relevant details and descriptions.

There is no need to clutter the icon, no matter what size it is. Once the icons are bigger, there would be less room for wires and actual code logic. I don't want my subVIs to fill a large portion of the diagram (that's why I also don't use express VIs). 😉
