We should be able to link terminals to the connector pane directly from the block diagram window, not (just) the front panel window.
The connector pane defines the inputs and outputs of a VI. That is part of the things we think about when we are coding/working on the block diagram, not necessarily when we work on the front panel. You could even argue that the connector pane has no place in the front panel windiw at all, but in any case it is still a nice shortcut to have the connector pane available there. But it should be available in the block diagram as well.
There are quite a few ideas that voice similar concepts, but they are either more general or talk about not having a front panel at all, so NI could end up choosing to not go that way, but still implement this idea.
