Navigation window improvement

Status: New

It would be nice to be able to select elements in the Front Panel and then be able to drag and drop them to were you want them in the navigation panel.  This useful when copying and pasting in the Block Diagram and having the resulting control appear in a far corner in the front panel.

Ex:

The control DUT SC0 2 is then moved to the area specified in the navigation window.

Obviously it won't work on XP. I definitely don't have a "Navigation Panel" on that system. I don't think I have seen anything like that in Mac OS either. Was it introduced in Vista? 7? Or are you talking about a new preview mode to be introduced in LV?

I'd personally prefer the approach of the LabVIEW WebUI, which stacks all unused control in a kind of "shelf" where you can get them and drop them where (and whether) you need them on the FP.

I think that has been discussed in another thread, if not several of them.

He's referring to View -> Navigation Window (CRTL+SHIFT+N)

View>Navigation Window has been there for the last several LabVIEW versions.

Holy moly! I see... NI has introduced a tool to help navigate large diagrams? Have they lost their mind (or lost a stupid bet)?

YOU . ARE . THE . MAN !Smiley LOL

Although I must confess, I use the navigation window every now and then...especially when dealing with (beginners) large diagrams found in forum posts.

The interesting thing about the navigation window: It has some sort of magnifying function...

Yeah, absolutely. Did you know that the error cluster wire had this level of details in its design:

There is only one solution to this state of affair.
