I have worked with multiple versions of LabVIEW for many years, usually wanting to play with the new versions as soon as they come out but not wanting to switch my working version until I have extensively researched compatibility. On numerous occasions, I have opened a VI from Windows Explorer, modified code, saved and closed, only to realize a while later that it accidentaly opened in the wrong version of LabVIEW. This can be easily fixed by setting RegisterExtensions=false in the ini file LabVIEW versions that you don't want to be the default handler. The problem is I didn't know this existed until last year when reading a website on hidden INI settings! I propose adding a way to access this from the tools options menu to give it more visibility.
