scroll window mouse shortcut

Status: New
I'd like to see the 3rd mouse button (scroll wheel button) activate the scroll window tool and allow me to move the window while held down.

Any chance this will make it into NXG? Or at least implementing the current gen scroll tool functionality in NXG? Scroll wheel up/down and left/right isn't quite the same...

I actually use that functionality enough in other programs that I often try to use it in LabVIEW until I remember it doesn't work.

It's not identical to the Pan tool (with which you click and drag the window). Instead it makes the window scroll in a direction relative to where the scroll-wheel button was clicked.

In case you've never used it and want to try it, I know that recent versions of both Microsoft Word and Google Chrome have it.

  • Clicking the scroll-wheel button toggles it, or click-and-hold the scroll-wheel button to have it turn off when released.
  • While it's active, just move your mouse a little to see it scroll. The scroll speed is proportional to the distance you move your mouse.

Wow such a great idea. I had forgotten this feature does not exist in LabVIEW. Scroll-button pan is so common in other application now.

+1 from me for this.

I know this is a 12 year old idea that never got much traction. Anybody else think this would make a great addition to the IDE?

wild to me that this still isn't implemented? looking on the forum there have been several more threads popped up for it over the years!
