warn when closing BD if using probes

Status: New

Warning: You are about to close xx probe windows. Would you like these probes available next time the BD is opned? Yes/No/Cancel. Could then have a restore probes option.

Or maybe even allow probes to stay open when BD is closed. Often, I close the BD by accident during a debug session and kill all my probes.

Lots of great suggestions for probes in the forum.

Agreed.  I can't count the number of times I've done this.

I would vote that probes should not close if the diagram is closed, as long as the FP remains open. I often troubleshoot with the diagram minimized, operating the FP and watching probes.

I second Altenbach's version.

Why can't we keep the Probes in memory (inactive until BD is opened) instead of just discarding them?

I actually want the probes active no matter if the BD is open or not. I know where the probles are but I want to know what their values are while I run the FP and entering unexpected data...

Altenbach, I want that too, but I have a sneaky suspicion I alreadey know what the answer to that will be.......

New suggestion perhaps?

To advocate for the other side of the coin, I would get really annoyed really fast if I had a dialog box asking me if I really wanted to do what I just told it to do.  I'm not saying the problem shouldn't be addressed, but the proposed solution is likely to be just as bad (or worse) than the problem.  Vista didn't come out that long ago.

How about an option to:

1 - Close, without any warning (current way);

2 - Ask: don't close, close and keep (like this topic idea),  close and save;

3 - Always save.

In the third option, after close everything, it will reopen with all the probes. Very nice if you have to stop work suddenly (in the middle of a debug process) and turn off the or logout to let other people use the computer.
