Are there any plans to develop the ability to upload code to the Arduino, and have it run headless?

We are talking about a whole universe of wasted opportunities. I use USB-6009 devices all the time, and cannot see the point of messing around with an Arduino for as long as this feature is not present. On the other hand, if the possibility existed, I'd be going nuts. Is NI concerned to lose a corner of their hardware market? What is the  reason why LIFA developers are happy to stop at this point? Does anyone really profit from LIFA, crippled as it is, intentionally or not?

You can also see in this thread that a few solution exists but are still in proto mode.
