I/O COM not seen

Solved!
Go to solution

I love Labview and its interface with Arduino blew my mind. I'm familiar enough to finish simple projects. However, my Windows 7 computer recently died and I upgraded to a new computer with WINDOWS 8.

I reinstalled Labview and Arduino IDE, successfully uploaded the LIFA to my Arduino Uno. I wrote a simple blink test in Labview but the VISA resource won't bring up the COM port no matter how many times I refresh.

I know my Arduino is fine because I can see its COM port in my Device Manager, yet it's still not working in Labview. Also, Labview is up to date (Labview 2012).

Please help.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that when I was installing Labview, it asked me to disable Windows 8 fast boot as the said fast boot may cause problems with hardware changes. I chose not to disable it. That request to disable fast boot came up again during the updates and I had a change of heart and disabled it. However, the problem is still there. I should also mention that it has been a while since I've used Labview ( 3 months) and I may be a little rusty and overlooked an important step.

Got it working, I had completely forgot about NI VISA. Here's the link if you need it http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2251/lang/en
