3D volume calculation from stacked 2D arrays in MathScript

Hello Reader:

It seemed that MathScript is always improved for each new LV versions which is great! With LV8.5.1 newer changes and features were added specially speed and variable window tracing, now we have LV8.6 with more 39 new features  - I do not know if NI people missed it out but in my humble opinion the differentiating feature from the usual Matlab array manipulation is it's ability to do N-Dimensional array manipulation. While faced with performing noise statistics calculation from a series of images (from 2D array equivalents) I realize early that I could not mixed my 3D-stat with IMAQ Vision because MathScript is not capable more than 2D array - so I wind up enclosing the m-scripts that were doing great in Matlab in a Mathematics-Matlab Node with a more than $5K additional investment on a Mathlab license which could have been used for other nicer LV toolkit.

By the way ImageJ a public domain microscope software from NIH can calculate 3D Noise volume also.

Is there any effort or improvement direction from NI to be able to equip MathScript with more than 2D array manipulations?

Thanks.

Hello,

I can assure you we did not overlook support for n-dimensional arrays.  It is a known limitation and we are working to provide support in a future release.  We chose to focus on other improvements in the releases since the inception of LabVIEW MathScript.  Do you believe that support for 3D matrices would be sufficient or would you rather have true nD-matrix support?
