Why does this give me a 1088 error? Thanks in advance.

I don't get that error. I tried it on the shipping example "Setting Custom Item Symbols". What does your tree look like? What symbols do you have? What is your LabVIEW version? How about posting the VI?

Without investigating the actual VI, my guess is that you haven't added any custom symbols to the tree.

I second that "Huh?". CAR# 182992 has to do with the Icon Editor, and also has to do with item names in the tree, not custom symbols.  I'm guessing PaulG's issue is that he simply hasn't set any custom symbols in his tree.

That is the case. I was trying to see if I could see the standard images stored in locations 0-36. But I guess I can't.
