19" Rackable PC Vendor Recommendation for FQT Station

Solved!

I have two PXIe controllers from NI that came with Xeon processors. So far they have worked great. Everything is in the PXIe chassis, no USB peripherals.

Just to throw out another potential alternative, you could use a good laptop and hook up to PXIe chassis via a Thunderbolt. I do not have experience with this, but it is something I plan to try in the near future.

I have used this. It works and can work well but a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Some IT departments lock down the TB port because it has DMA access. You may need special permission/setup to use it depending on your company. You also need to setup some things in the BIOS if allowed.
  2. If you use Bitlocker, make sure you have your key handy. When you plug into the TB port and reboot, bitlocker recognizes some configuration has changed and asks for your key. There may be a way to set the BIOS to avoid this, but so far I have not found a way. As long as the system is plugged in, subsequent boots won't need the key, but as soon as the TB is unplugged and system rebooted then you need the key.
  3. Typically to recognize all the devices and have smooth booting, BIOS modifications are needed.
