Working with examples in 2011. When I open these in LabView2012, there are always some sub VI's not found. How do I correct?

Since you do not mention the example you are opening or the subVIs that are not found, I can only guess. Perhaps you don't have a toolkit installed for 2012? Please provide the necessary details if you want help.
p.s. And why are you opening examples from 2011 instead of opening examples from 2012?

Examples from courses or provided by NI. I have put in seperate directory in separate C drive folder. I am modifying these examples for trying new VIs in simple setting. Obviously I am new user.
Related question, when I open example provided by NI and modify and save, the physical channels revert to the original sample even though I have changed it to those on my system. Why won't these channels not saved?

Did you make the new values the default before saving? Just changing a controls does not make the new value the default.
You are being very obscure. What exactly are the error messages? Do you have a few names of missing VIs? Did you reinstall DAQmx after installing LabVIEW 2012?
