3D graph line hard time

Hello,
could somebody help me to reproduce the same result as the AcriveX 3D graph with the native 3D graph? I am having hard time with it.
Thanx

For one thing, you have Inf values in the first row of your x array which is throwing off your autoscaling.  Fix this and the two plots are very similar, except for colors which you can tweak.

Thanks Darin! That was just a warm up 🙂
I overlooked that since I was desperate from different thing - when I select only one line to be plot and then unselect it it is still being displayed. Try checking/unchecking multiple/one item. When all items are unselect it still preserves the image of the last one.

And I wasn't able to change the color of the plot getting rid off the color transition 😞

I'll take your word for the other issues.  In the current incarnation, I stick to the ActiveX versions whenever possible.  A fan of the new controls will have to defend their honor, as far as I am concerned, as long as it does what you want, stick with the classics.

If I use the graph property node value things get even worse. It seems that the graph is always one step behind and is not redrawing when nothing should be displayed.

When I want to zoom it also behaves strange.

I would like to hear a word from NI. Those things make the graphs completely useless!!!

Hi Ceties,

You are right the 3D Graph native, in your example code is not redrawing when switching on and off one single plot. This is a known issue (R&D knows about it) and we (NI) are working on it. However till the solution will be implemented, the workaround is to force redraw of the 3Dgraph manually (click on the graph, scroll down than up the FP window) or programmatically (call a 3DGraph property). See your VI attached with the programmatic force redraw implemented.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions.

Regards,

Barna

Thanks but could you also advice me some workaround when I use the property node to update the graph? See my previous message. Thanks

Barna,

The future of teh 3d graphing capabilities in LV are very important to me and I would like to track this issue to follow its through to a fix.

Could you please post the CAR for this issue so that I can track it?

Thank you!

Hi Ceties,

Sorry, I assumed you were looking for a solution to one of the options (1:wiring data directly to indicator or 2: wiring data to the Value property of the 3D graph).

I can reproduce the problem when using the value property node, and the workaround I found is to not using it :), actually you can use a 3D graph local variable instead of the property node plus the programmatic force redraw workaround, from previous post, to clear the last curve from the graph.

Anyway thanks for notifying us about the 3D graph value property strange behavior, I will report it to R&D (if it is not reported yet) so they can investigate the issue.

See attached VI with implemented recommendations.

Hi Ben,

The 3D graph redraw issue was reported in CAR#189327. Regarding the issue above there is no CAR yet, I will let you know as soon as we will create one.

I hope I managed to answer all your questions so far.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Regards,

Barna

Sorry but in situation when I use consumer loop to update the indicator "not to use the property node" is not an option 😞
