Hi,
 
It is not a gaussian fit, just smoothing. I needed to get rid of the small interference fringes from the picture, hence (with the great help of members from this thread)  I just took the FFT of the raw data, place a cuttoff, then remove the high frequencies in the FFT by placing a mask in the 2D FFT, then take the inverse FFT to get back  to my data.
