Hi everyone. I am using the new 3D plot in LabVIEW 8.6.1, but I can't seem to grab the cursor. I can create a plot with a cursor, but every time I try to position the cursor it rotates the plot instead of moving the cursor. I have tried the obvious things like holding down shift or CTRL to select the cursor, but no luck. Does anyone know how to grab the cursor?
Thanks!
Craig
P.S. This is the new 3D plot, not the old ActiveX version

Hi Craig,
Is this the 3D surface or parameter plot. I can move my cursor so please right-click on your graph, select 3D graph properties and look at your settings in Cursors. The Snap To property should be set to Fixed.

Hi Ipshita. Thanks for the response. It's the 3D surface graph. Changing the cursor properties to fixed doesn't seem to help me. The issue seems to be that the rotate plot tool is always selected. (I see a little icon that has rotation arrows.) On a normal graph you can use the cursor select tool on the graph pallet to select and move a cursor. I've tried line, point and plane cursors. Is there some similar way to do so for the 3D surface graph? Note that I don't think I want to use Snap to: Fixed because I want to use the cursor to read out the height (z) at a given XY cursor location. So I think I want it to snap to a selected plot. The cursors worked ok for me in the last version of LabVIEW with the ActiveX version of the 3D surface graph.

Hi Craig,
I understand what you are saying--there does seem to be no way to change the cursor. However, you can trying playing with the cursor properties, especially active cursor and cursor enable. I shall report this to the appropriate group.

Thanks Ipshita. I've gone back to using the legacy 3D graph for now. The other feature that seems to have disappeared in the new version is the ability to use different color map styles. In the ActiveX version (CWGraph3d), you could choose different options for color map styles, including color spectrum. This seems to have disappeared in the new version of the 3D graph. It would be nice to have those features back.

Hi Graig,
I had the same problem in the new 3D plot
To fix:
1. Enable cursors and make sure they are visible (of course).(3D graph properties)
2. Make sure the cursor you want to move is set to Snap to Plot or Nearest Plot (3D graph properties)
3. Use the THIRD button on you mouse (on my mouse pushing down on the scroll wheel is the thrid button) to grab the cursor and move it along the plots.
Hope that helps

Thanks Ruben. That's a great hint. I don't have a third button on my laptop. Anyone know a work around?
