5.0.1 on Win2k -- AMD Duron?

I've been using LV 5.0.1 on win2k for a year now and have upgraded to a new computer.. from P3-700MHz to AMDduron1.2MHz. 5.0.1 works *PERFECT* on the P3 but hangs after a while on the AMD. processor related? other possible issues? Thanks in advance.

I have had definite compatability issues with the AMD processors. With the K6 200, I couldn't even get the computer to recognize the CD!!!

At that time, National Instruments did say that there were definite compatability issues with the AMD processors. I don't know if they resolved these issues, or if new issues have popped up with these new processors, but I strongly suspect that this is your problem (considering that you did move from an Intel to an AMD, there can be no other reason.

Contact NI and ask them (ni.com/ask) about this. Until then, or if there is an issue, I suggest sticking with the tried and true Intel processors.

Good luck, and please update this post with your results. This information is archived for future searches.

There are issues with running v5 (but not 5.11) on W2K and they can be
subtle. Glad the subtle ones weren't the problem. Some issues we have
observed are:

1. Changes in processing speed.
2. Code in llb's takes longer to execute.

Taking the same code to 5.11 removed the problem. Our last contact with NI
on this issue revealed that there are differences in threading between W2k
and the way 5.01 handles this - they might or might not cause problems and
that for W2K, at least, they no longer suppo
rted 5.01 code.

cheers, Alex.
