50-pin panel mount connectors?

We're building some custom hardware and need to run two 50-pin DAQ
cables into an enclosure. We cannot find ANY panel-mount connectors
that mate with the 50-pin (IDC/SCSI-1) format. Does anyone have any
suggestions?

The connector can essentially just act as a pass-through with M-M
terminals on either side so we can daisy chain two DAQ cables together
with the internal cable terminating at a scew terminal board.
Thoughts?

Try this one. What kind of environment, does it need to meet IP67??

Thanks. The only problem is that the one you suggested has the IDC50
plug matched with a High Density 50 plug (HPDB50). I need the IDC50
on both sides.

I honestly can't believe no one makes anything for this sort of
application...it's kind of crazy. I've poured through every page of
Allied and DigiKey and all I can turn up are board-mount IDC 50
plugs.

Any other suggestions?

Hi,

Thank you for posting to the NI forums.  We do have a Knowledge Base article that lists the manufacturer and part numbers of our most common connectors.

Specifications and Manufacturers for Board Mating Connectors

I’ve done some research on recommendations for panel mount connectors, but I haven’t found much documentation on this.  However, you may be able to use the mating connector manufacturers list to find what you need.  I’ll continue looking into this, and post back with my results.

Do need to connect and disconnect the cable from the panel, or are you just trying to get the cables through the wall of the cabinet?

I'm looking for the same kind of panel mount connector.  We have a 50 conductor ribbon cable inside a custom box and I need to connect it to an external ribbon cable.  I need a IDC 50 pin bulkhead so I can connect the internal cable to the external cable.  Does this product exist?

Hey Stowe,

The 50 pin bulkhead you're looking for probably doesn't exist because the standard application would be to bring the outerworld cable format into the innerworld cable format.   I looked around, too, and wasn't able to find anything.  One thing we could do is get two bulkheads and a ribbon cable and connect bulkhead to ribbon to bulkhead.  I know this is probably a less than ideal solution, but the application you're looking at probably doesn't have a high demand, so no manufacturers provide the part.  You could get this part custom manufactured, but you'd need to be producing quite a lot of them to offset the cost.

Thank you for your response.  It is indeed a low count production setup and I will have to look into a different design with the next iteration.  Thanks again.
