Joujou,

Thanks for posting here on the NI Discussion Forums, and congratulations on your first post.

From your post, I am not positive what issues you are having with your PCI-7041 board, but here is what I suspect that you are seeing:

1) When you can FTP into the board, but you can't save anything on it, are you able to remove files from it? If so, please remove a few files and then try to put them back one at a time. I suspect that your CompactFlash card may be full. If this is the case, you will need to get a bigger CompactFlash card to make this work.

2) The issue of the 7041 not showing up may be related to your DAQ driver version. NI-DAQmx 7.4 is the newest version of DAQmx driver. If you don't have DAQmx 7.4 yet, please download it from our website and install it.

If after trying those things, you are still unable to work with your PCI-7041, please post some additional information about the issue that you are seeing so that this forum will be better equipped to assist you.

Me to, I have enormous problems making the card PCI 7041/6040E work. I try to explain what I have done and what problems I have encountered:

1. First I installed LabView 7.0 including all device drivers  on my computer. Device drivers included the following software:
 NI MAX 3.0.1, IVI Compliance Package 2.0,NI-DAQmx 7.0.1 Traditional NI-DAQ 7.0.1 NI-488.2 1.74, NI-VISA 3.0.1, NI-IMAQ 2.6, NI-Motion 6.0, NI-DMM 2.1.2, NI-SWITCH 2.0., FIELDPOINT 4.0.1. I chosed the full installation and did not changing any options, just took over everything as it was proposed

2. After restarting I continued installing the RealTime Modul 7.0.1 also including all Device drivers. So some updates where done:
NI MAX 3.0.2 , IVI Compliance PAckage 2.1 NI-DAQmx 7.1 Traditional NI-DAQ 7.1,NI-IMAQ 2.6.1, NI-MOTION 6.1 NI DIMM 2.2, NI-SWITCH 2.1

3. I shut down the computer to plug-in the PCI 7041/6040E and turned the computer on.

4. The PCI Card was recognized by windows (XP, SP1 btw)

5. I launched the MAX and could see the RT:1 - Device. I right-clicked on it to configure NI-DAQ -> nothing happened, i switched to the right window, where software was listed. NI-DAQ was bright-grey and not chooseable, so i suppose not available... (have a look on the attached jpg)

6. I tried to start the NI-DAQ Remote Device Access Server and got the following error:
"Der Prozedureinsprungpunkt ?compareVersion@nNIMXDF130@@YGX... wurde in der DLL nimxdfu.dll nicht gefunden" I try to translate "Procedure enter point ?compare .... was not found in nimxdfu.dll" Same error I get when using e.g. AI SingleScan.vi in Labview.

I repeated the same installation procedure as described above but with some changes I try to describe here:

Before reinstalling I alway used the NI-Program msblast.exe to deinstall NI-Products (what obviously is not done completely...i do not like windows, sorry...)

first - with Labview installation but without device driver-installation. Instead I only used device drivers delivered by the RT-Modul - same result as described above

second - with Labview and RT installation but without any device drivers deliverd by labview and RT. I used the newest ones (7.4) but my PCI-Card was not even detected neither by windows nor by MAX!!!

third -
with Labview and RT installation but without any device drivers deliverd by labview and RT. I used the more recent ones (7.2) but my PCI-Card was not even detected neither by windows nor by MAX!!!

I really do not have any idea how to make this card work. Does anyone have a hint, how i can resolve this strange errormessage "Der Prozedureinsprungpunkt ?compareVersion@nNIMXDF130@@YGX... wurde in der DLL nimxdfu.dll nicht gefunden" I suppose that it's got smth to do with the DAQmx.

As I am a very beginner of Labview, I really cannot deal with those messages. Even the support I contacted several times could not help me. Maybe some of you can??

thanks a lot

Hello Darmstadt!

I am sorry you are having so much trouble getting you 7041 configured.  First, it seems like the best idea may be to stick with the drivers that had your device showing up in MAX.  If you can get back to that point I believe the only step you are missing is to install your software on the embedded system.  NI-DAQ would be gray for two reasons.  Either the sotftware on the host is different then the target or it is not installed at all.  To correct this problem simply goto the software tabbed panel and right click.  Click install software and I believe this will solve your problem.  If you would like more details please refer to the 7041 manual that can be found at the link below.  This issue is specifically discussed on page 2-4.  I hope this helps and have a great day!

I deinstalled everything and after i tried it once again. I managed to make NI-DAQ appear after installing Labview 7.0 without Drivers, RT 7.0 without drivers and finally installing device drivers and NI-DAQ 7.1. As you can see on the attached screenshot, it almost looks like as it was described in the linked manual you sent. BUT: i wanted to update NI-VISA and NI-Watchdog on the remote device because it is marked in MAX to have a different version. Trying to do that the system crashes. Right-clicking in the left window on RT:0 and selecting NI-DAQ causes a crash of MAX, nothing works anymore, the whole program crashed. (as windows software uses to do....) The installation of Labview, RT and NI-DAQ succeeded without any errors, also the card was recognized by the windows device manager. I really do not find a solution.

Using NI-DAQ 7.0 makes no sense, the card is not recognized at all. Using 7.0.1 has the same result as described above. Using more recent versions like 7.2, 7.4 and 7.5 makes no sense, the card is not recognized neither by windows device manager nor by MAX. I wonder why, cause the card PCI 7041/6040E is explicitely mentioned to be supported by those drivers... When I used those versions (>=7.2) the Windows device driver did not mention at all the PCI 7041/6040E but the device family 6040 (its mentioned twice, do not know why) and the CARD PCI MIO 16 E 4 (I read somewhere, that this is the ancient name of the card). When I chose either the 6040 or the PCI MIO Device in Windows Device driver I got the error that the card probably wont work correctly. In MAX I cannot see an RT:0 or RT:1 at all, but an NI-DAQmx Device 6040 or PCI MIO (depending on what I have chosen as windows device driver). A selftest of the card always fails with an error 20200 or something like that.

I really wonder if this card works on someones computer. I have tried it on three different machines, with all the drivers available (7.0, 7.0.1, 7.2, 7.4, 7.5) and I have been checking the forum and all available manuals for 3 weeks now. I am in frequent contact with the support, but the card does not work!!! I am really used to install software, PCI Device etc so i am not a beginner and I know what I am doing, I have never ever experienced a mess like that. I start getting really disappointed and I have more important things to do than installing a PCI-Device! I know its not the fault of the forum readers, so sorry that I complain this way, but i think you understand.

Any help appreciated

thanks a lot
