Hello NI Community,
I am currently trying to hook up a Measurement Specialties 7104A IEPE Accelerometer (+/-50g) to an NI 9234 Module (Please see the attached PDF for the technical specifications of the 7104A accelerometer). I am having issues with the Configuration Settings when accessing this accelerometer in the DAQ assistant. I have attached a screenshot of the settings I am currently using for the 7104A accelerometer.
Firstly, the "Signal Input Range" only allows me to use an acceleration unit. I am assuming that this is the +/-50 g input into the module?
Next the "Iex Value (A)" is set to 2mA by default, however when looking at the technical sheet, the accelerometer provides a range of 2mA-10mA. What value is reasonable to use in the DAQ assistant?
For the dB reference, it defaults to a value of 1, and I am unsure where I would find this value on the technical data sheet. Is having a value of 1 dB correct for this accelerometer?
Finally, I am having difficulty understanding what the outputed data units are. On the technical sheet, it says that the output voltage is +/- 5V, however when looking at the data recorded when just moving the accelerometer around, I am getting values in the range of +/-8. Is this assumed to be "g's"? Does the NI 9234 module automatically output the data in acceleration?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Chris

Hi cjwarren,
I was taking a look at the NI 9234 datasheet and the trypical excitation value for this device is 2mA. The maximun sampling per channel is 51.2 KS/s and an ± 5v. The NI 9234 handles 5g vibration and a 50 g shock. According to the notes from the 7104A Accelerometer you can use 1dB. The output voltage seems a bit odd, can you please attach a screenchot of the measurement from MAX. Please take a look at these links, which can help you:
