Acquiring LVDT and accelerometer readings - DAQmx

Hi all,

I am using PXI chassis with a NI-6361 module to aquire LVDT and accelerometer readings. Both sensors are voltage sensors with external signal conditioning devices in order to help aquire the signal. There are three options in DAQmx; voltage, voltage with excitation and seperate choice for LVDT and accelerometer. Since there is an external amplifier for both sensors and excitation frequencies and some other properties need to be specified, I would like to kindly ask which if the option needs to be selected for simulating the sensor in DAQmx.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Pepis21,

Excitation voltage on sensors, either external or internal, are only used to power them and to amplify their signals. It should therefore have little impact on your data when you are just simulating the sensors.

The DAQmx functions only read from values seen from the source (simulated in your case), and the original sensor's excitation is therefore not important.

I'm can't seem to find the options you mention, or what they are used for. Could you provide a screen shot from where you are presented with them?
