Active X Container System Modal

Hello

I have placed an Active X Container on my front pannel.  I have inserted the Microsoft Forms 2.0 Scrollbar into the container.  If I change the windows behavior in vi properties to modal and run the vi the Active X container disapears.

Does anyone know why this happens?

Hi Dan,

I tried reproducing the behavior that you experienced, but was unable to.  I simply created an ActiveX container, inserted the Microsoft Forms 2.0 Scrollbar, changed the windows behavior in VI Properties to modal, and then ran the code. What version of LabVIEW are you using? The example I created was in LabVIEW 7.1.

Hi Dan,

I opened your VI and your right, I couldn't see the scrollbar on the front panel. However, if you just copy and paste the scrollbar from the block diagram view, everything works fine and the copied scrollbar is visible. I ran the program in the modal mode with the copied scrollbar and it worked fine. I am going to attach my program that has the scrollbar visible. See if you can run it without any problems.

It would help if I attach the VI.

Your VI has the same problem as the one I submitted.

Hi Dan,

That behavior we have been seeing apparently was a bug in LabVIEW 7.1 but has been fixed in LabVIEW 8. I just tested that feature out and it has been fixed. LabVIEW 8 is now available to download and demo at LabVIEW 8 Demo.

Hi Dan,

If you are looking for alternatives beside LabVIEW 8, check out the KnowledgeBase called Microsoft Forms 2.0 ActiveX Controls Disappear after Closing and Reopening a VI.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Jonathan,

That did the trick

Hopefully NI will include a scroll bar control in future versions of LabVIEW
