Adding Harmonics to a Sine Wave Programatically

Hi,
I would like to generate a sine waveform, and add different harmonic levels (increase or decrease the amplitude level of different harmonics (2,3,4....)) and view it in a graph. Is there any utility available in labview.

The "add" function is polymorphic and will also add waveforms.

Alembey,

Are you asking if you can generate this sinusoidal function with your Cal International power supply? It does appear that your device can generate custom waveforms. Your device also has a GPIB interface such that you can control this device using LabVIEW. To do this, you would use a different method than the one discussed above; you would send your instrument commands which would then control its outputs. I hope this is what you needed. Thanks,

thank you Duffman, i found its labview driver and now working on it. cal 3001ix has a prg. for generating harmonics but actualy i want to do a lot of harmonic wave not a single one. using labview i can read from excel file that includes harmonic data (Hz & amp. for 1000 different wave) and send it to 3001ix i think 🙂

any help can be useful and sory my poor english 😞

alembey,

I’m glad to hear that you’ve got a starting point for your instrument communication. Basically you’ll want to build onto the program that you've already got that sends simple harmonics to your instrument. It sounds as if you will need to perform a file read and then send those read values as commands to your instrument over GPIB. While I am not familiar with the specifics of your device, I am sure that the forum users and I can help with any specific LabVIEW questions. Please let us know if you have any further questions. Thanks,

Mike D.

Hi,

i finally generate my harmonics with the califoria 3001ix 🙂

second problem is how can i measure the current harmonics waveform. i can export it to *lvm file, there is no problem but it has a function to measure current harmonic waveform and i must get waveform not harmonics amplitute.

when i try this, error occurs 😞

how can i configure it to measure the current harmonics waveform?

Hi alembey,

I searched throughout our site and was unable to find any information about the error code that you are experiencing - when exactly in your program does this occur?

Also, I am not really familiar with the API for communicating to this instrument in terms of measuring a waveform - is there something in the LabVIEW programming that we can help you out with?

If you post the code we could take a look at what might be going on as well.

Best regards,
