Aligent 34401A and VISA

Hello,

After I downloaded the driver for the Aligent 34401A and tried to run
the example code, it wasn't possible. In nearly every SubVI there is
an class-conflict-error between the VISA-resource-name an for example
the VISA Wait on Event function. The same Error happens when I try to
run the example to communicate with the serial port, form the help.

Best regards

Jens

There's a couple 34401 drivers. One of those requires both recent IVI and VISA drivers. What versions of both do you have installed?

I've installed VISA driver Version 2.5. I don't know where I can find
the Version of the IVI driver. I'm working under Windows NT, with the
German Edition of LabVIEW 6i. In the Measurement & Automation Explorer
I get the message Could not get object reference for the hp34401a
Instrument driver.

MAX lists the versions of all NI drivers installed. Open MAX and under My System, you'll see Software. Expand this and you should see an entry for IVI Engine. With LabVIEW 6i, I would think that you have a version compatible with the HP34401. You could try updating 6i to 6.0.2 and see if that helps. The upgrade is free and the bug fixes are worth it. The other thing is that the LabVIEW installation normally includes the HP34401 driver. Maybe your downloading and installation of another one caused something to get corrupted. Sorry if this isn't helping your problem.

I'll try to update my LabVIEW Version.

Thanks a lot!
