The manual.
A screwdriver and take the screws off the top of the case.
Which SCC carrier are you using? Is it the SC-2345?
Other questions:
Why are you having issues now? Did something change? New PC?
Why was that person allowed to leave without doing a better job documenting the system?

Yes, a power shortage caused some problems to the windows operating system. We had to re install every thing! I also installed a new version of DAQmx today. Previously it worked with version 8.7.1,

Good question. But now I have to learn things by myself. It is good, useful.

That stinks, but happens. Learning more is definitely valuable.
Be sure to do what you need to do to get it working, but don't try to fix everything that looks like it could be fixed like modifying bad code. If the code is bad enough, it might be so fragile that fixing it will break it. Save any fixes and upgrades for the future once you have a working system to compare to and have a better understanding how it is supposed to work.
And be sure to help the next guy out who will follow you and do a good job documenting the steps you took to get it to work.

yes, right,
The code works almost perfect,
I upgraded it to a new version, with the help of a super genius undergrad student. And I have saved copies of that on multiple hard drives.

I downloaded the manual, and I am going to go through it.
Thanks for your help.
