Animated images as indicators

Hi,

I have an image (.jpg) with a portion of it inside that I want to shade in two different colours, red and white. The portion that I want to colour is not a regular shape, which is what makes this a bit difficult.

Basically I want to control the percentage of the fill area that is white using a digital control and I was wondering if anybody has any ideas

Thanks,

Ken

If I understand what you want correctly, I think you can have that section transparent and place the image ABOVE the color indicator. That way, the control will be seen through the transparent area. I don't think JPEG supports transparency, and LV itself may be a bit hard on the subject, so you may have to play around with it.
I'm not sure what you mean by percentage - do you want the area to have both red and white at the same time, or do you want to control the amount of white in the color. If you want two colors, I think you will need to use a slide.

Let me try to make sense out of your question. It is not clear what this has to do with animated images (your title).

Is your jpeg image all shaded in red/white and you want to mask off certain parts with white thus showing only an irregularly shaped patch of your original image?

One way to do this is shown in the attached example (LabVIEW 7.1). It shows a circular area of a desired midpoint and radius, leaving the rest of the image white.
