The Anritsu has several possible connections schemes. The two I am currently looking into is detecting the device via USB and Ethernet. So far I have not much luck with either. The USB connected device doesn't even show up at on on Measurement & Automation detection. I tried 'creating device' however the options are limited. Please advise and expound the steps necessary to make these connection work. Thank you in advance.

According to the manual, the only connection scheme is Ethernet. The USB port is for connecting flash drives. For a VXI-11 instrument, open MAX and right click on Devices and Interfaces. Select Create New>VISA TCP/IP Resource. If the auto-detect does not work, make sure you can ping the instrument.

I was able to ping the device however the auto detect still does not work. The Anritsu Master Software Tool was able to use this connection though. Any other suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Hi cdux,
May I know what version of NI-VISA do you have? I would recommend installing the latest version which you can download from here.
Also, have you tried doing a Manual entry of LAN Instrument to manually specify the address of the device? How does this behave? If you haven´t tried, I would suggest to try that.

Hi Jorge,
I have NI-VISA 4.1 installed. However that seem to be not the issue. The problem was resolved by doing a manual address entry along with rebooting the Anritsu SM. Also it helped to standardize the instruments IP, SUBNET, and GW addresses with the PC. Thank you for your input in this matter.
Best wishes,
