Application Builder 8.0 issue

When I right click  on "My Computer"  in the Project Explorer tree and select the option to "Add Folder..." , a standard  dialog  with the title " Select a Folder to insert " appears. Fine upto this stage.

Whatever I do  I unable to  add the whole foldser that I select as it always ends up in a File level and when you try to "Open" that it says  that operation cannot be performed ( obviously so ). So the only way I  managed to do is to ,

1. Reach the required folder.
2. Open it.
3. Click "Current Folder "
4. It adds all folders upto the preceeding level.
5. Delete the unwanted folders.

I know it sounds funny . But how to add folders like a pro ??

Thanks

Raghunathan:

I hope all is well. Adding a folder to the project will add all the files contained within that folders, even if that means including additional folders. Is it the behavior you are expecting? Please let me know so that I can help you further.

Hi Rudi,

I have no problems adding individual files to  folders that I manually add to the project tree.

But assuming I  want to add a folder  called  "DataFolder" that has some 15 odd files inside in it  that will be used  when the VI runs, then how do I  it ? I know there is an option to "Add folder.." when you right click the My Computer in the project tree. But it does not behave as expected.

As of now I do as follows :

- Manually add an empty folder to the project tree and name it "DataFolder:.
- Double click  and open it.
- Now select the option "Add file "
- Manually copy all 15 files one by one from the source "DataFolder" on my C-drive.

I would like to do the above with just one operation of "Add Folder ". As days pass I am  convinced it is a bug in the App Builder V8.0.

Yes.

Hope I am clear now..

Regards

Raghunathan

i have no problem adding a folder... i think you are facing the problem of adding the parent folder because you must go into the folder before pressing the "Current Folder" button...

for example, you want to add the folder name DataFolder which is under the folder called Project... so to add DataFolder, you must go to Project -> DataFolder then press the "Current Folder" button.... like that you'll be adding all the current and child folder of the DataFolder folder... hope this helps... Hi JQ,

Oh great. I knew I was making a mistake somewhere and thanks for pointing it out. I can now add folders all day long as much as I wish .

Thanks to you and Rudi for your prompt support. Have a  good day.

( After all it looks like that App Builder 8.0 has no bug as feared ;-))
