Did you mean:

Application pauses for up to 4 seconds at random places in processing loop.

My software ran over the weekend without a single hang up. I think I have found the problem. My utilization went up a bit because I'm not using the array optimizations the put in 8.5, but at least its stable. Now if they can figure out the problem and fix it in 8.5.2 🙂 Thank you to everyone who helped me with this. Its a pain to track down a problem for this long, but I did so many improvements to my program trying to figure it out, I would be very tempted to say it was worth it!

Could you please summarize what turned out to be the issue and what was the fix.

I'm glad you have something that serves your needs!

As far as I can tell, there is a bug or some glitch in 8.21, 8.5 and 8.5.1 that isn't in 8.20 that causes a vi to hang and CPU usage to spike. I moved back to 8.20 on the test system and I haven't had a single error since then.

Hi all,

I've verified all of the behavior that has been described here.  The spike in CPU usage is seen in LV 8.2.1, 8.5, and 8.5.1 but not 8.20.  I have however, verified that the VI is still running (add an indicator to the iteration counter).  It would be a more conclusive test of course to run this with HW and ensure the external devices are still operating... ...Ok, I've tested it using a Compact FieldPoint and verified that the VI does indeed continue to run.

I have reported this behavior to R&D since it does not occur in LV 8.20.  The Corrective Action Request number is 116562 if you would like to follow the status of our work.

Thank you for finding/noticing this,
