Jim, I was just looking at your original figure of less than 1/2 million tries, I never ran yours, but your solution does appear much cleaner and faster. I just realized in mine, I was checking to never let there be 3 in a row, as I misread the original post as never have three or more in a row. Fixing that would probably speed up mine a bit as well.

That was when I enforced a limit of only one in a row.

By the way, the original post said "no more than three even or three odd numbers in succession".
