Calling Google Earth via Active X

Hi there! Can anyone kindly help me out in opening Google Earth window via LabVIEW Active X Control when GPS data stream appears as input? I also want to include my kml & network link file via LabVIEW in Google Earth to get the path tracks, placemarks & location view of my own choice. Currently I don't have any idea about how to perform this task. I'm an Amateur & using LabVIEW 2012. Regards.

Hi WaqarAlam91,

We have some examples on our community that show how to get started with Google Earth and LabVIEW. Google Earth and LabVIEW shows how to interface with Google Earth, and Google Earth with Pushpins expands on that example and adds some further functionality. You can find more examples by looking in the "More Like This" tabs over on the right. A lot of users have submitted examples of their code for interfacing with Google Earth from LabVIEW, I hope this is enough to help you get started on your application!

Thanks,

Hi Fertronic79,

Under steps to execute and system requirements on that document, it mentions that Google Earth 4.3 needs to be installed. Do you have this specific version installed? It may have issues with later versions of Google Earth.

Dear JD

Thanks for your answer. Yes, I have installed the Google Earth version 4.3 but in Windows 7 32 bits doesn't work the ActiveX, but if I use the same VI for Windows XP 32 bits works fine. So isn't possible to use in 64 bits systems? I think you should publish the update VIs to use the Goole Earth in 64 bits systems.

I am sorry that you are having trouble getting the example to work. The example on the community page was written by a LabVIEW user and is not an official example created by National Instruments. If you would like support with this VI, you will need to contact the creator. Unfortunately the example was written in 2008 and is most likely no longer supported by the creator.

Dear JD

But could National Instruments give us an official example to use Google Earth embebed into Labview for the actual version of Google Earth and Labview? I thinks would be useful for a lot a users.

Thanks.

I'm sorry you are encountering difficulties. We do not have any official examples utilizing Google Earth and I do not foresee us making one. We do not write code for customer use outside the example finder. This is especially true for 3rd party software. If you create your own application to interface with Google Earth and run into issues, the forums will be a great place to help you debug your program. If you need this software developed and you do not have the time to do it yourself, you can hire one of our NI Partners to create an application for you.

Dear JDizzle

Hello. I got the Google Earth embedded works in Labview 2013, but this works only for 32 bits Windows 7. Now I'm using the web server and web publishing too create remote front panel control, but the problem is the ActiveX of Google earth isn't showed in the remote front panel but the other controls and indicators works fine. I was reading that the problem is with ActiveX elements, so could you explain me a way to resolve this?

Thanks.

Hi Fertronic,

I would recommend creating a new forum post. This one is over a year old and will not get much visibility by the public. This will not only get you help faster but may also help others with similar questions.
