I'd like to automate the icon editor so that whenever I open it, it has the square template (_square.png), no glpyh, and my keyboard focus is in the "Icon Text" box ready for me to type my text, hit enter, and I'm done.
As it stands I have to manually select the template and remove the glyph; I'm trying to skip those steps.

What you are asking for isn't what I think you really want.
When the icon editor opens, it doesn't open with a default template. It opens with whatever is the current VI's icon. The default is defined by LabVIEW and the VI, not by the icon editor.
Even if there is a way to do what you want, do you really want that? Suppose you open up the icon editor and the icon is replaced with your new default template. What happens when you open the icon editor again to tweak the icon further? The icon editor would again replace the current icon with the default template.

You're right, I phrased my opening question wrong. I want that setup only for new VIs, not whenever I open it.
I wish I could erase this thread as I phrased my opening question so very wrong. Moderators, feel free to erase this thread!
