The NI Service Locator, as the name suggests, locates services. It is used by a lot of different programs, such as the LabVIEW Example Finder and LabVIEW Help. If you are absolutely sure that you don't want the functionality of the NI Service Locator, there is a way to disable it. However, we do not recommend you to stop the NI Service Locator and any part from here on is on your own risk:
In Windows, log in as Administrator and go to "Start >> Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Services >> NI Service Locator" and select "Stop". You can also right-click on the service and choose Properties >> Startup type: Disabled" if you don't want NI Service Locator to be launched at startup.
Again: We do not recommend you to stop the NI Service Locator. If you do, we do not guarantee the functionality of your NI software.
