Can I have both LabVIEW 5 and 6 installed on one computer to use them either or?

I have projects running on both LabVIEW 5.1.1 and 6.0.2. Unfortunately I cannot upgrade the LV5 projects to LV6 for various reasons.

If would be fairly nice to have both versions of LabVIEW installed on one computer because of the DAQ hardware. They would - hopefully - never run both at the same time. Will that work or will they interfere?

Does anyone has tried it or is there an official statement by NI?

Cheers,
Daniel Troendle

I had LV 5.0 and LV 6.0 evaluation installed in my computer, with no interferences. The only problem was that if i used LV 5 vi files would open with LV 5 next, and the same occurred with LV6.
Good luck

I have 4.0.1 and 6.0.3RT on one PC - all seems ok, but never ran both at the same time. Also, another PC has 5.1.1 and 6.0.3RT and also no problem. I have each version stored in its own folder, and try to not interchange them at all.
Have you considered just using the 6.0.2 version and use the "Save To Version 5.0" as needed? This might allow you to simplify your PC programs.

I have both on my system and have even run both at the same time with no problems. One possible conflict will happen if you're using NI Reports. I believe that the LabVIEW 6 installation replaces the LabVIEW 5 ActiveX component and this will break the LabVIEW 5 VIs that use it.
