I know how to use Save for previous versions. What I want is the default save option to be 8.6? The reason for this is that our project has a lot of VI's under CVS control. All other users have Labview 8.6 and so when I make any changes I want to it save it for version 8.6 automatically. I guess I could install Labview 8.6 (where can I download it?) but I would prefer to keep Labview 2010 and just be able to save to 8.6 automatically. If I need to explicitly do a Save for Previous Version I have to save into another directory structure and then copy it over my original files and then check in making it very tedious.

LabVIEW offers no mechanism to do this.
Why not just check out the project in two different places? Then, when you save for 8.6 you write to the location where you have the 8.6 version and check in from there.
However, your best option is to work in 8.6. You can contact your local NI sales office to see if they can get you a CD/DVD of 8.6. As long as you use either 8.6 or 2010, but not both at the same time, you will be OK with the license agreement.

Thanks. Two checkouts is a nice option but keeping them both updated becomes an issue. I might try it out though.

Your life will be made easier if you work in the same version as the rest of the team.

I agree completely. LabView 2010 is cool, but you will have a lot of headaches working in a different version than everyone else on your team is for a certain project.
