Can I sell my NI test suite without my customer buying ANY run-time version?

I am thinking to use NI Developers Suite Pro Test proiduct to develop a test suite for a popular industry standard. I want to sell my test suite to customers. Will my customers have to purchase any of the NI SW components in a special RUN TIME package? Or will my test program run like a C program on their platform and require NI SW product to run? I would probably use NI Labnview, TestStand, Measurement Studio, SignalExpress, the IVI drivers, NI Visa, etc in the development of this test suite.

You've got a lot of different components with several different licenses. NI's license requirements are getting more and more complicated, imho, and you need to contact NI directly or your local sales engineer. Since you hope to sell the package, all license fees should be included in that price but only NI is able to tell you what all those fees will be.

NI also allows free downloads of the Run-Time Engine for all of our software to run applications developed in a particular development environment without having that same development environment installed on deployment computers. In creating executables of your application, you can usually choose in include an installer which will allow you to automatically install the necessary components of the Run-Time Engine needed to run your application. Executables will then allow your customers to run your application as a stand-alone program just like any C program.

The link to download our drivers and run-time engines online is available here: NI Drivers and Updates

Feel free to r
espond with any further questions. Thanks!

Actually, I wanted to change my previous response a bit. The NI-VISA Run-time Engine is not necessarily free at this moment and does require that you go through our VISA Licensing Policy. I apologize for the confusion.

Thanks,

Yes, you can sell a test system to your customer without requiring them to purchase an entire NI Pro Test Dev Suite. The only NI products you listed that require a runtime fee are TestStand (and Switch Executive). These fees are very reasonable though at $500 (or $1500 for full debug license) and $195 respectively. This is a great deal IMHO since you get all of the time savings and benefits of off-the-shelf, ready to run test management and switch management tools on your runtimes for less than 1% of the typical deployed tester cost (including sw + hw). There are no fees associated with deploying *.exes or *.dll's developed with LabVIEW, CVI, or Meas Studio for Visual Studio .NET.
