Can I use LabView to implement an array of microphones for localization of sound?

thanks John,

now its clear, how to ask for help in here.

I'll work with the tutotials and try to put out an algorithm.

Please post any similar projects if you know any, like hueter did.

P.S. I didnt wanna be rude to Ray. My apologies.

I didn't ask for you to publish your methodology in public.

I was referring to design of the LabVIEW code so that you could ask for help in a better way.

Probably other papers/thesis may useful.
A good place to see more about current achievements is LEMS.

P.S. I am not with Brown.

If you can dream it, LabVIEW can do it 🙂

I hope you post the results of your project (maybe a sweet report, not the code/hardware) when you finish. Sounds sweet.

Someone who is more biased on MATLAB is insisting on using it rather than LV for my project.

can anybody here who has substantial experience with MATLAB, help me decide on this please?

Please provide me the advantages and disadvantages of using either of them if you can.

It all depends on how comfortable you are with a language.

If it is C/C++, then do it in C/C++

If it is MatLab, then do it in MatLab

If it is LabVIEW, then do it in LabVIEW

They all have their benefits and low points.

The one thing that I do admire about LabVIEW and to a degree CVI is the superb support that you get at this forum.  Try to get this much help on other forums, for VxWorks, C/C++ or MatLab.

CVI was tough for me to learn because I did very little text programming - and that mostly ATARI BASIC on an 800XL.  (Okay, I did some VB .NET along the way, too.)  But once I learned how easy it was to do what I specialized in - ATE software - in LabVIEW, I dropped text programming like a hot potato.  At least CVI generates a lot of the basic code for you.  I guess the other hard part was that I was learning C++ programming on the fly.  😉
