Can I use both Labview 2009 and 8.5 in the same OS?

Hi all,

I'm currently using Windows XP SP3 and want to know if I can install Labview 2009 and leave my Labview 8.5 version also installed (not replace it, but have both versions so I can use either one)?

We want to keep supporting some of our customers if we upgrade to 2009.

Have anyone done it, if so, are there any issues by doing so?

Thanks.

Yes. Lots of people have multiple versions installed. Just make sure to install 2009 after 8.5. You might have issues with toolkits, if you use any. See here for this: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/58BE852CB35237C786256A290079DF39.

With very few exceptions (listed in that KnowledgeBase entry I believe), you should not have any problems with toolkits, as each LabVIEW release since 8.6 has its own set of compatible toolkits.  If you were trying to use LabVIEW 8.2 and 8.5 you would have trouble, but 8.5 and 2009 should have completely independent toolkit installs.
