Can a vi be compiled and run as an executable under Linux?

I'm a new user to Linux-based Labview, and am using Labview 7.0 beta1 under 7.2 RedHat. I have built a gpib control vi that runs just fine, but the customer is requesting that the code run as an executable file, so that it can be called from a Perl script. Is this possible? Practical?

Hi Bill,
Yes, you can run LabVIEW executables under linux, provided that you have
the application builder or are using the professional development version,
which beta's usually are. That leads to another issue. There is another
newsgroup (natinst.beta.labview) for discussing anything to do with LabVIEW
betas. We are not supposed to get into beta issues here.
Cheers,
Mike
