Can i use LABVIEW 7.0 to capture and process the images from scientific cameras?

Hi,
I'm having Ultrak KC4300 CCD monochorome camera.I'm trying to interface this camera with the computer.I do not have NI-IMAQ.But i have LABVIEW 7.0.Can i capture the camera images and process them?Besides that I haven't decided upon which PCI acquistion board i need to get.I 've found few boards which come at a cheap price without the driver software. Will LABVIEW 7.0 support non-NI acquistion boards?
Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.

Thanks ,

Rajesh

NI-IMAQ is specifically for NI image acquisition boards. It won't
understand other manufacturers image acquisition boards or frame
grabbers at all.

Also it is not really LabVIEW which needs to support a specific hardware
board as much more the opposite in that a hardware manu
facturer must
have drivers for its board to allow applications to make use of it, and
if he is really smart he also provides a LabVIEW interface library for it.

One possibility with many frame grabbers however is that they support
Video for Windows (VfW) or Dirext X and then you can either use
following libraries to access your frame grabber from within LabVIEW:

Irene He's IVision Toolkit:
http://www.hytekautomation.com/Products/ IVision.html

or

Pete Parentes WebCam library:
http://www.cs.unc.edu/~parente/labview/ index.shtml

The first is a rather impressive Video Manipulation library with a
nice video capture interface to Direct X/VfW too, and the second is a
simple video capture library to access any VfW compliant device.
