Can one use Ni-Daq on a system not connected to hardware?

Can you program with DAQ Assist (Ni-Daq 7) in LabView 7 Express, on a system that is NOT connected to any Hardware? I am trying to get a head start on software. Won't have the hardware for some time.

Yup. They even have templates in the new LV.

If you want to specifically use the DAQ Assistant this is NOT possible. Unfortunately at this time you must have a hardware device present. If you want to use the API (i.e. the VIs), to begin creating an application this is possible. If you do choose the VI method the only thing you won't have available is the I/O controls being populated with any device information

This is a feature the NI-DAQ team will be addressing in future releases.
