Hi all
I wanted to test some hardware by simulating it on my workstation. I'm using Labview 8.2 and MAX 4.1.0
When I try and simulate the SCXI 1000 chassis, the first dialog box appears with the chassis communicator dropdown control greyed out. The chassis address box is available. When I try and save it keeps asking to select a communicating DAQ device but it doesn't seem to have a spot for that. I don't know if I'm missing something or if I need an update to MAX. Anyone had this issue?
Thanks in advance
Chuck

Hi Chuck,
I think this article should do the trick:
Simulating SCXI Chassis, Modules, and Accessories
Hope this helps!

Thank Greg.
Only one problem, the DAQ board don't show up when I try and simulate them. I have a SCXI-1600 and a SCXI-1520 in the chasis. If I go through the process to simulate these modules they do not appear as options. With the physical setup, I used the same version of Labview and Max, but of course I have the driver for those devices. If you download a driver for a device does that also work for simulations?

Ok I did a bit more experimenting. By installing the SCXI-1600 on my simulation system, I can simulate the chasis, as it uses the real SCXI-1600 and SCXI-1520 moduels. I can't seem to simulate those moduels though. Is that becuase I'm running 4.1.0.3001 and need a newer version?

So reading this https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA03q000000x0PxCAI&l=en-US, I see you can't simulate an SCXI-1600 (along with a few other select items). Was this just in older versions of MAX? Or is there some reason an SCXI-1600 in inherently unable to be simulated?

Hi Chuck,
You're right... the SCXI 1600 cannot be simulated according to the following KnowledgeBase article:
What are NI-DAQmx Simulated Devices and How Do I Use Them?
Are you having trouble simulating any of the other modules, or just the 1600?
