Can't create a simulated M Series DAQ in MAX

I am trying to create a simulated M Series DAQ in MAX (specifically NI PCI 6225). But no device shows up in Devices and Interfaces tree and no error is generated either. What's wrong and what's the remedy?

Thanks for your help!

Ah! my great friend Mike is here to help. Dear friend, finding you around is a source of contentment. Somehow the problems evaporate in your presence.

Is this a driver? I mean where would I find it (to install) (I have the cds just guide me to the location).

Thanks for the help Mike!

Yes I did find it in the drivers disk. Thanks again Mike.

I have installed NI VISA 4 but the problem persists. Some devices get installed e.g., USB-DAQ, while others still dont install. More help needed.

Accept thanks in advance!

Thanks Mike! But DAQmx and legacy DAQ both are installed. I have got two versions of LabVIEW installed 8.2 and 8.5. Is it possible that he two versions are responsible for the problem. Drivers are intalled for the version 8.2 only and MAX version is 4.3. Any other ideas?

Hi C.DOT,
you can have both versions on one pc without problems. Try to install the driver again for both versions.

Hi C.DOT,

I have a few questions for you.

-Are you able to simulate any devices?
-What version of DAQmx do you have installed?  You can see the version in MAX by expanding Software and clicking on NI-DAQmx

Support for simulated devices started with NI-DAQmx 7.4, as can be seen in the following KB.  Also, you can check whether you device cannot be simulated here.

Please note that the Traditional Daq driver does not support the simulated device feature.  Also, M series boards cannot be used with the Traditional Daq driver.  You can download the most recent version of NI-DAQmx here.

Hello friend, RT4CY! Thanks a lot for the reply. As advised by Mike, I installed the drivers for version 8.5 as well and that solved the problem. Thanks so much for such a detailed answer.

Have a very pleasant day!
