Can't run LabVIEW tutorial video on a new laptop with Vista

I'm trying to learn LabVIEW to help a FIRST team.  I was trying to view the tutorial videos from home on a new laptop running 32-bit Vista.  I tried both IE 7 and FireFox 3.0.  There is a blank spot on the page where the video player should be.

See if you have adobe flash player installed.

I have Flash player for IE and FireFox installed.  I've also installed QuickTime.  The laptop has a DVD drive and came with DVD video support.  I should have lots of ways to play a video, but all I get is a blank area on the page where the video player should be.

I get a lot of blank spots on my pages because my company blocks most picture/video content.  Perhaps that's happening to you.

Good luck with the FIRST team; that's an incredible organization.  Learning LabVIEW with the pressure of that environment will be challenging...

But he said this is happening from home. It is unlikely that ISPs block this content. 😉

I just tried on my 64bit Vista rig, and all videos show up just fine. You might look into your browser security settings (defaults should work). Do you have any personal firewall or internet security software installed? What happens if you click (or right-click) on the blank space where the video should be?

Good Afternoon relee60,

Good ideas checking for the flash plugin and the security settings, altenbach; those were also my first thoughts.

Do videos on other websites work appropriately?   Are all ni.com videos showing up as blank spots on the website?  If not, which tutorials do not work for you?  Please post links to those pages.  Thanks.

I'll check the browser security and firewall tonight.  I think the Vista firewall is disabled, and I have a McAffee firewall enabled.  Here is the link to a video tutorial on wires that I cannot access from home: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/7584.

Hello Bob,

Thanks for the link.  I'm looking forward to hearing back from you about the security and firewall settings.

The following link is the source of the embedded video on the site that you linked in the previous post.  Can you view it here?

I don't know what happened (other than rebooting).  Without making any changes to my internet security, firewall, virus scanning, malware detection or installing any new software, the pages with video now load and play.  Go figure.  Sorry for the false alarm.
