Can the USB-6210 output a 10 kHz square wave?

Solved!
Go to solution

I have been scouring the forums/internet to discover the maximum output data rate for a USB-6210, but to no avail.  I know that the device can handle 250 kS/s, but this doesn't seem to be related to the output rate.

Through experimentation I have estimated the maximum rate to be 2500 bps, but I'm afraid this figure could be inaccurate since I really don't know what I'm doing.

I would like to know:
a) Is the USB-6210 capable of outputting a 10 kHz square wave signal?

b) If it isn't, is there a USB DAQ that is?

Hi Emrys,

according to specs of USB6210 the AO is software timed - atleast there is no other information listed.

If you look at the specs of the USB6211 instead you will notice that it also delivers 250kS/s for the AO channels, so it can output a square wave (and any other kind of waveform) at 10kS/s!

Let's see here.  No analog outputs.  Only software timed DIO, so that won't work.  But there's 2 counters that should be able to output a square wave at the rate you need.  I haven't done that myself, but if you use the example finder and search for something like "pulse train" or "counter output" you should find some good examples of how to do this.

Thanks, I'll give the counters a shot and see how it works out.
