Can we reuse the serial number if we install new Windows 7 64 bit

I want to format my CPU by replacing Windows 7 32 bit with Windows 7 64 bit. However, LabView was previously installed in the Windows 7 32 bit. Could it be possible that I reuse the same serial number if I want to reinstall the LabView in the new Windows 7 64 bit? Thanks for the response.

Hi foo,

yes.

In the future you should discuss any license issues with your local NI customer support!

If all you are changing is the OS from one version of Windows to another, reinstalling LabVIEW shouldn't be a problem as the computer itself has remained the same.

If you were making fundamental hardware changes like swapping out the motherboard, or installing an old license on a new, replacement computer, then you need to talk to NI.

Serial numbers are good for a certain LabVIEW version and earlier on Windows so changing bitness won't be a problem from the "will this work" perspective.

If you were concerned about using the same serial number multiple times and breaking a contract, remember that one serial number is valid for up to three computers anyway.  If you are still concerned though you can always call your local sales representative.

If your company has a volume license, the above may not be completely true. If that is the case, your software admin is the best person to help you out.
